Every fourth of July Michael took Dad and Margaret on a boatride up the Charles River to see the Boston Pops play at the
Shell. They often went to Red Sox games at Fenway Park, always sitting between home plate and first base. Michael was an
official for the Boston Track Club, and they attended track meets at Boston Garden. Michael was a member of Joseph's
Retreat League at Sullivan Square. Margaret remembers that she loved it when he would go to the Retreat League on Friday
nights because she and Estelle would go have banana splits for supper, relieved that they didn't have to cook. On Sundays
Michael would walk in Boston Common, sometimes taking Margaret in the mornings to feed the ducks and ride the swan boats.
He would return to walk in the afternoons alone, sometimes going to listen to Father Feeney speak (a sensational
excommunicated priest who drew crowds in Boston Common).
